Hollister models Mock Koreans via Twitter

Hollister models visiting Korea to advertise the opening of an American clothing brand 'Hollister' took pictures that make fun of Asians and posted with racial discrimination tweets. And, it caused controversy in Twitter and other social networks. Hollister models attended the opening of the brand's first Korean store at the Yeouido location, where they took photos with customers. The event is part of Hollister's differentiated marketing campaign whenever it opens a new store. One of the models who attended the opening event posted a picture to his Twitter, which is taken in front of Gyeongbok Palace with his eyes squinted closed and his lips open. It is the way that some racists describe Asian, and it's actually making fun of Asian. Another model posted similar photos to his Twitter account. In addition, their tweets after the photo were problematic.

Furthermore, it didn't end up with the kind of upper tweets. Another model was captured exposing his middle finger in an insulting gesture during photos. It was enough to make a controversy and be criticized for racist comments in Twitter.

Many Asian customers were outraged at this imprudent behavior, so they criticized the incident and required appropriate treatment to the company. Hollister's parent company, Abecrombie & Fitch, said they have now fired the models who are involved in the recent incident. "As a company, we do not tolerate inappropriate or offensive behavior. We terminated the associates involved as a result of their actions. On behalf of our more than 80,000 employees around the world who cherish our core values and our culture of diversity and inclusion, we sincerely apologize for the offense caused by these unauthorized, ill-considered actions."

The company fired the racist models and apologized for the offense though, people wonder whether it is a just and proper measure. Because it isn't Hollister's first time to be involved in terms of racial discrimination. It need to be more careful than ever if it doesn't want to make such a problem.
